50th Hamburg Ballet Days

The Hamburg Ballet Days are the highlight and conclusion of the current season, bringing together the diverse spectrum of Hamburg Ballet in just two weeks. The 50th edition of the festival will open on July 6, 2025, with the world premiere of "Demian", the first full-length creation by Artistic Director Demis Volpi for Hamburg Ballet.

In addition, the Ballet Days will provide insights into the season's repertoire, including the two premiere productions "The Times Are Racing" and "Slow Burn", offering a fascinating overview of various choreographic styles since 1974. From the rich repertoire of John Neumeier, "Romeo and Juliet", "Nijinsky", and "Death in Venice" will be featured. The Hamburg Ballet School will also participate with a performance from the series "First Steps", showcasing, among other works, Demis Volpi's "The Carnival of the Animals", which was added to the school's repertoire in 2012.

The Spanish choreographer Marcos Morau and his internationally acclaimed company La Veronal will present two guest performances of "Sonoma", a work of archaic power and surreal dystopian beauty. Inspired by the works of filmmaker Luis Buñuel, Morau creates intricate, dizzying images in his unique, uncompromising movement language.

The Nijinsky Gala L will conclude the 50th Ballet Days and the 2024/25 season on July 20.
