John Neumeier wrote ballet history with "Third Symphony of Gustav Mahler" – at a time when he had been director in Hamburg for less than two years. The Mahler ballets became a lifelong theme, which Dr. Jörn Rieckhoff vividly traces in his lecture using illustrative documents from the John Neumeier Foundation. As Director of Communications and Dramaturgy at Hamburg Ballet, he is an experienced expert and mediator of John Neumeier's creative work.
As a member of the directorate, Dr. Jörn Rieckhoff shapes the strategic direction of the Hamburg Ballet in close consultation with John Neumeier. After studying in Heidelberg, Birmingham and Freiburg, he completed his doctorate on Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. He then took up positions at Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Berlin University of the Arts and Stiftung Niedersachsen. Recently, he has published for the Salzburg Festival, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Theater an der Wien, Bunka Kaikan Tokyo, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden and labels such as C Major and EuroArts.
