News from the Company

We congratulate! For the upcoming season, John Neumeier has promoted seven dancers of the company: Beginning next season, Karen Azatyan, Alessandro Frola and Matias Oberlinwill take the stage as Principals, and ensemble dancers Olivia Betteridge, Charlotte Larzelere, Ana Torrequebrada as well as Louis Musin as Soloists. Congratulations!

As new members of the corps de ballet we welcome the former apprentices Ghanima Choffat, Anita Ferreira, Lin Zhang, Gabriel Barbosa, Alfie McPherson and Javier Monreal as well as the former dancers of the National Youth Ballet Lormaigne Bockmühl, Pepijn Gelderman and João Vitor Santana. A warm welcome!

The new generation is also ready: as new apprentices we welcome Eleanor Broughton, Abbey Haller, Hannah McCloughan, Kallum Morris, Tibor Perthel and Caspar Sasse from the School of the Hamburg Ballet. Toi, toi, toi for the season 2023/24!

Of course, it is time to say goodbye again after this season, and so at this year's Nijinsky Gala some of our dancers were officially bidden farewell by John Neumeier and the audience.
We say goodbye to our Soloist Patricia Friza, who is ending her career with Hamburg Ballet after 17 years. In her years as a dancer, Patricia has danced and created many defining roles (including Dolly in "Anna Karenina", Amanda Wingfield in "The Glass Menagerie"). Also leaving us is Soloist Yaiza Coll, who has danced with the company for 11 years (including Marie in "Liliom", Geruth in "Hamlet 21"). Thank you very much for this wonderful time!
We also bid farewell to our Soloist Félix Paquet, who came from Canada in 2019 and has since danced in pieces such as "The Winter's Tale" (King Leontes) and created the role of Tom Wingfield in "The Glass Menagerie". Soloist David Rodriguez was with Hamburg Ballet since 2016, dancing, among other roles, The Man in the Shadow in "Illusions - like Swan Lake", Tadzio in "Death in Venice" and creating The Unicorn in "The Glass Menagerie". From now on he also devotes himself to new tasks.
We also have to bid farewell to the four ensemble dancers Giorgia Giani, Borja Bermudez, Marià Huguet and Ricardo Urbina, who are leaving Hamburg Ballet to take on new challenges.
We wish everyone only the best for the future
